Introduction In 2011, Rajasthan’s girls literacy rate was 52.12%, recently reported as 57.6%, the lowest in the country. Recently, according to a report from the National Statistical Office, Rajasthan has the lowest literacy rate for girls in the country at 57.6%. Rajasthan government has implemented various schemes to increase girls’ literacy and promote education. In 2019, Rajasthan government launched “Rajasthan Indira Priyadarshini Award Scheme.”. Under this scheme, girls who achieve first place in their district in classes 8, 10, and 12 of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education will receive cash awards. The awards are structured as follows: Rs. 40,000 for the district topper girl in class 8. Rs. 75,000 for the district topper girl in class 10. Rs. 1,00,000 for the district topper girl in class 12, along with a scooter for each eligible girl in class 12. Girl student who is a permanent resident of Rajasthan. Girls who belong to the following catgeory are eligible to apply for the scheme:- General. Scheduled Caste. Scheduled Tribe. Other Backward Classes. Minority. Disabled. Special Backward Classes. Below Poverty Line (BPL). Students currently enrolled at Swami Vivekanand Modern School who achieve a CGPA of 9 in class 12 and attain the highest position at the state level will eligible for the scheme. The incentive amount will be directly deposited into the bank account of the beneficiary. Benefits of Scheme Under the Rajasthan Indira Priyadarshini Puraskar Yojana, the beneficiaries will receive the following benefits: A student who secures first place in the district/state in class 8 will receive Rs. 40,000. A student who secures first place in her district in class 10 will receive Rs. 75,000. A student from any stream who secures first place in her district in class 12 will receive Rs. 1,00,000. Additionally, each student will also be given a scooter. Eligibility Criteria Applicant must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan. Only girls are eligible to apply for the scheme. Only students of General Category, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Minority, Disabled, Special Backward Class, BPL will be eligible to apply. Student must enrolled in classes 8, 10, and 12 of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education. She has achieved first place in her district in the examinations for these classes. She has also secured first position at the state level in Class 8, Praveshika and Senior Upadhyaya board examination of Sanskrit Department. In addition, she obtained a CGPA of 9 at Swami Vivekanand Government Model School. She achieved first place at the state level in her academic pursuits at this school. They must complete their details in the application form provided by the Balika Shiksha Foundation. Schools will compile a list of applicants received and submit it to the Secondary Education Directorate in Bikaner. District Education Officers will then log in to the Shala Darpan portal to review the prepared list. Officers will select the beneficiaries on the Yojana Portal, fill out the details of each girl in the application form, and submit it.
