The scheme “Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojna” is an old-age pension scheme implemented by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar to provide financial assistance to elderly citizens. Under the scheme, a monthly pension is given to individuals who are aged 60 years or above.
Benefits
This scheme applies to all senior citizens aged 60 years and above and Rs. 500 is provided as monthly pension to those beneficiaries who are aged 80 years and above. All senior citizens of all castes, income, communities and religions can avail the benefits of this scheme.
- A monthly pension of ₹400/- will be provided to individuals who are in the age group of 60-79 years.
- A monthly pension of ₹500/- will be provided to the individuals whose age is 80 years and above.

- The scheme was announced on 13th February 2019.
- The scheme covers all individuals who are above 60 years of age.
- The beneficiaries would be provided with a sum of Rs. 400 as monthly pension.
- This pension fund would be offered until the death of the individual.
- The pension amount of the scheme would be directly deposited in the bank holder’s account.
- The scheme will be implemented from 1st April 2019.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a permanent resident of Bihar.
- The age of the applicant should be 60 years or above.
- The applicant should not be a retired government employee, in order to avail of the benefits of the scheme.
- The applicant should not be receiving any pension from government service, family pension or social security pension any other source for this purpose.
