So, is it the begning of the end of Bike Tax in India ??
The answer to this question is a No, The Delhi Government may allow EV two wheeler to operate as Bike Taxi
The Delhi government’s Transport department has launched a crackdown against two-wheelers with private registration marks being used for commercial purposes.
In a public notice, the department has cautioned bike taxis against plying in Delhi and warned that violations would make aggregators liable for a fine of up to ₹1 lakh.
Talking about the crackdown, it is difficult to identify such vehicles since there is no specific mark. For now, offcials may be posing as decoy customers and issuing challans.
So, whats the real issue ??
The issue is basically the two-wheelers having non-transport (private) registration mark/number are being used to carry passengers or even for the purpose of goods transportation.
This is important to note here that the current laws in India may impact Lakhs of people who are using their personal bikes for not only as Bike Taxi but for the purpose of goods delivery as well such as food delivery etc.
So, conclude, Bike Taxi is illegal in India if the bike per se is having non-transport (private) registration otherwise it is legal if the bike has a valid commercial license number registration.
