The “Parivahan Sewa” portal is an online platform developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in India. It serves as a comprehensive digital service for various transport-related activities and services.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has been assisting in computerising 1300+ Road Transport Offices (RTOs) across India. RTOs issue a Driving License (DL) and a Registration Certificate (RC) that are valid across India. It became important to define the same standards for these documents on a pan-India level for ensuring interoperability, correctness and timely availability of information.
Ministry assigned the National Informatics Centre the task to standardise and deploy a software VAHAN concerning Vehicle Registration; SARATHI concerning Driving Licenses (DLs) and compilation of data related to DLs in all states and vehicle registration. The VAHAN and SARATHI are intregrated on the Parivahan Sewa Portal.
