A caste certificate serves as legal proof demonstrating an individual’s caste. The government of Telangana is authorised to issue the Telangana caste certificate. This certificate is essential for allowing eligible citizens, especially those from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), to take advantage of a variety of benefits.
Caste certificate is legal proof that states the original caste of a specific individual. Hence, the Government of Telangana provides Caste Certificate to people of all communities who belong to the State. This certificate is essential, particularly for the people of the reserved category to establish their candidature.
What is the Importance of Telangana Caste Certificate
A Telangana caste certificate is an important document that enables individuals to access various government schemes. When required, this document provides proof of the individual’s original caste for those under the reserved category. This initiative was started by the Indian government as part of the ‘Indian System of Protective Discrimination.’ The objective of this is to provide certain privileges to the less privileged individuals.
The Indian government realised that it was important to encourage the STs, SCs, and OBCs to walk alongside the general public. Therefore, they designated specific seats in parliament and various government jobs for individuals belonging to these castes. Furthermore, such individuals get partial or full relaxation for the costs associated with attending college or high school.
The age limits for applying to different jobs and other restrictions in educational institutions are also relaxed. For the candidate to be eligible for these benefits, they must have a valid caste certificate.
